Beginning sounds

I am learning to make the first sound in new words now that I know most of my alphabet sounds.

Story Writing

We are learning to write down our ideas and draw a picture to match.

In the beginning ...                                 . .  and now!

"I have to do quality work. I have to get the letters right and do it neat. I make the sound." said Sophia

Numbers to 10

I am learning to recognise as well as read and write numbers to 10.  I am able to write all my numbers to 10 correctly.  I have attempted to write to 20.

"I can count up to 20 and I can write up to 10 by myself." said Sophia

Tread Lightly Caravan visit

The Tread lightly Caravan visit was teaching us that the environment is everything around us in nature and that the environment is really important for us to live (trees for oxygen, water to drink, plants for food etc.) so we need to look after it.

"I planted lots of seeds to grow up big. Then I'm going to eat them- ooh laa laa!"

Kai and Korero Evening

At the start of the year Elm Park School had a Kai and Korero evening. Our families, students and teachers got together to share what happens in our classrooms and then we finished with a picnic.

Sophia said, "This is all of my family. I love all of my family."
